| The Nature Odyssey team of naturalists are involved in programmers of raise awareness of the island's snake population. The naturalist, who are stationed at our field bases in Chaaya Village, Habarana and Yala Village are working to increase the knowledge base of staff, guests and villagers in these areas.
Our naturalist conducts monthly awareness programmes at their work stations and also taking these demonstrations and lectures to schools in an attempt to combat the instinctive fear snakes engender. The programmes teach participants how to identify poisonous and non-poisonous snakes.
Through these programmes we believe we can contribute toward the well being of both people and snakes, which in turn helps to protect these fascinating creatures, while at the same time helping to save lives of those. who come into daily contact with them. |
